The Omnibus I Directive in 2025 narrowed mandatory CSRD significantly. Most Irish SMEs are not directly required to file a CSRD report. But the supply chain pressure from large Irish companies that are subject to CSRD continues to grow. Irish CSRD context: what the regulation actually requires
Ireland transposed CSRD via the European Union (Corporate Sustainability Reporting) Regulations 2024 in July 2024. Wave 1 companies, which are large Irish companies previously subject to the NFRD, reported FY2024 data in 2025. The Omnibus I Directive in 2025 narrowed the mandatory scope to companies with over 1,000 employees and 450 million euros in turnover. For Irish SMEs outside mandatory scope, the VSME voluntary standard is the recommended framework for supply chain reporting.
