Train Healthcare

UK SMEHealthcare Training · UK — London, nationwide

UK healthcare training company tracking emissions for NHS supply chain compliance.

The challenge

Train Healthcare is a UK healthcare training company providing manual handling, CPR, life support, and PMVA training to healthcare professionals across the UK. Based in Brentford, London, with trainers operating nationally, Train Healthcare serves NHS trusts, care homes, and private healthcare providers.

The UK healthcare sector is under increasing sustainability pressure. The NHS net-zero target by 2040 is cascading down to suppliers and training providers. NHS procurement teams are increasingly requesting carbon data from contractors and training providers as part of their own Scope 3 reporting obligations. Train Healthcare needed a structured way to measure and document their emissions to meet this growing requirement.

The solution

Train Healthcare onboarded GreenKPO to measure their Scope 1 and 2 emissions, company vehicles and training venue energy consumption, and their key Scope 3 categories, including trainer travel across the UK and purchased services. GreenKPO's structured data collection process worked with Train Healthcare's existing records: mileage logs, energy invoices, and operational data.

The platform produced a DEFRA-aligned carbon report, the standard required by NHS procurement frameworks, with full traceability from source data to final figure.

The outcome

Train Healthcare now holds a structured, audit-ready carbon baseline aligned to DEFRA methodology. The report can be shared with NHS procurement teams and larger healthcare clients as evidence of sustainability data capability, positioning Train Healthcare ahead of competitors who cannot yet provide this data on request.

In numbers

  • DEFRA-aligned methodology: NHS procurement compatible
  • Scope 1, 2 and key Scope 3: trainer travel and venue emissions documented
  • Nationwide operations tracked from a single platform instance
  • NHS supply chain data request ready

Train Healthcare engaged GreenKPO to assess and report on the environmental impact of our operations, including our online training platform and nationwide face-to-face training services delivered by trainers travelling to client locations across the UK. The objective was to establish a carbon footprint baseline and identify opportunities to reduce emissions and improve sustainability performance.

GreenKPO conducted a carbon accounting assessment, analysing key emission sources including business travel, training delivery, and operational activities. They produced a detailed report outlining our carbon footprint, highlighting areas for improvement, and providing practical recommendations to support our sustainability goals and future carbon reduction initiatives.
